2023 results in our Sustainability Report

We are pleased to share the most relevant achievements and activities carried out in 2023 as a Benefit Society

We are very happy to share an overview of our Sustainability Report 2023 with the results achieved during the year.

After transitioning to a Benefit Corporation in 2022, our commitment continues and is renewed, touching on all the Common Benefit Goals shared in the Articles of Incorporation:

  • Constant focus on process innovation and sustainability
  • Concrete and transparent commitment to environmental protection
  • Attention to the welfare of workers, their families and the community
  • Promotion of the culture of aesthetics and beauty

In 2023, we have also extended and increased the analysis parameters for many areas of focus, with the aim of continuing to improve by starting with certain data to achieve measurable results.

Less waste, less impact

Galdi's approach to environmental protection is across the board and begins with reducing the consumption of raw materials:

WATER - Thanks to the new closed-loop testing facility (recovery of 100 percent of the water used) in 2023, we recorded a 26 percent reduction in water consumption. This achievement was complemented by improvements to irrigation systems and sanitation services, as well as the commitment of employees to try to reduce consumption and avoid waste.

ENERGY - During 2023, power management software was installed with the aim of:

  • Monitoring energy use in buildings with a daily consumption check at 15-minute intervals
  • Proactively detecting"abnormal" energy consumption
  • Reducing energy costs and achieving sustainability goals

WASTE - We are steadily reducing waste generation year after year (- 47.6% in 2022, - 41.1% in 2023) by increasing the amount of waste recovered. In 2023, following a study, we activated a collaboration with some of our major suppliers to optimize and reduce the impact of shipping packaging.

RG280: innovation is also sustainable

Galdi's commitment is to ensure maximum food safety for customers and support them in containing the TCO of packaging solutions, reducing costs, consumption and waste.

It is precisely thanks to research, supported by the Eco Design approach, that with the RG280 packaging machine we introduced innovations in 2023 that can guarantee hygienic performance that is among the highest in its class in the face of low emissions and consumption.

The development and application of digital technologies - particularly for advanced performance monitoring - has also enabled us to optimize the efficiency of our packaging solutions.

More efficiency results in packaging machines with a longer service life and lower environmental impact throughout the life cycle.

For the welfare of employees and the local area

We are really proud of being among the 401 private companies certified in Italy with the Family Audit standard, which was created to promote work-life balance for employees.

In 2023, at the end of the three-year path, we obtained Family Audit Executive certification and confirmed the continuation of the program for the next three years.

Through the involvement of the internal committee, formed by Galdi staff members themselves, several ideas and proposals dedicated to individual and communal well-being and growth were introduced and increased, such as:

  • Increased hourly flexibility
  • Professional and non-professional training and development opportunities
  • Agreements with local businesses
  • Wellness initiatives dedicated to employees

The focus on the territory also remains always on.

During 2023, we were pleased to welcome students and teachers by hosting several initiatives aimed at promoting collaboration between the business world and schools. In total, we hosted more than 230 students, from secondary schools and universities.

One project we are excited about came out of a collaboration with Girls Code It Better and led to the creation of a local club.

The common goal is to stimulate female students' interest in STEM subjects through workshops and the implementation of group projects.
