Galdi achieves Family Audit Executive certification
Over a three-year journey, we have promoted initiatives for a better work-family balance. Find out more.
On 17 May 2023, Galdi was officially awarded the Family Audit Executive certification.
This important milestone comes at the end of a three-year journey, which has led to the implementation of several initiatives to improve our employees' work-life balance!
Family Audit and practical applications
Developed by Provincia Autonoma di Trento, the Family Audit Standard is now being used nationwide.
As of today, about 350 small, medium and large organizations and more than 170,000 workers have joined the program to get certification across Italy.
The common goal is to foster a happy work environment, through initiatives that promote work-life balance.
During the certification program, each company drafts a yearly action plan, to which employees actively contribute by proposing ideas and solutions.
The implementation stage is later assessed by both the employees themselves - through a survey - and by evaluators from the Certification Body.
Here's a look actions currently underway at Galdi:
- Remote work: introduced in 2018, it has been extended. Galdi employees are entitled to 4 work-from-home days per month with a further extension based on personal needs
- Flexible working hours (both start and finish times)
- Part-time work, even for short periods, subject to workload
- Time-saving perks: car wash, car service, tyre change, physiotherapy practice, spa
- Possibility to bring children to work if difficulties with childcare arrangements arise
- Wellness: employees can use the Fitness Area and equipment - supervised by professional instructors - and join specific classes (mindfulness, back school)
Now that the first three-year period ended with the Family Audit Executive certification, the three-year maintenance stage starts.
This entails developing and implementing new initiatives through:
- The involvement of our internal working group, which has been collecting and sharing the needs and ideas of our employees from the beginning of the project
- The presentation of a business plan
- The annual audit
Our commitment for the future is to engage with and listen to our employees even more, to help create a positive and fertile climate for the development of ideas and good working relationships.
Well-being and happiness go hand in hand
"Ensuring the wellbeing of our employees, their families and the community" is one of the common benefit goals Galdi has included in its Charter upon becoming a Benefit Corporation.
This is a principle our company has been applying for many years by:
- Investing in skills (2,732.5 hours of training in 2022)
- Promoting healthy lifestyles
- Upholding the principles of respect and diversity
- Opening the company to local schools for projects focused on vocational orientation and STEM subjects
- Organizing events on various topics (e.g. digitalisation, sustainable development, European regulations and directives, etc.) in cooperation with businesses, institutions and universities
These principles have informed the design of the Galdi Village, the multi-purpose space located right next to Galdi's production site.
Here, the quality of working life is enhanced through large relaxation areas, seasonal and healthy cuisine in the Galdi Bistro, as well as classes for the mental and physical well-being of employees in the Fitness Area.
Our goals for 2023 include:
- Expanding the training offer and opening hours at our Fitness Area, to make them fit better into our staff's work schedules.
- Offering meetings and workshops on topics that are not strictly work-related, to raise awareness of emerging or important issues among employees and families
- Opening the events organized at our company's headquarters to the local community
- Collecting employee feedback (via surveys) to assess employee engagement and morale
