The representatives of two leading dairy companies from the Kenyan market and beyond have visited Galdi headquarters in recent weeks.

We had the pleasure to welcome Sigei Nixon, Managing Director of New Kenya Co-operative Creameries, and Charles Ndichu Mukora and Albert Nathan Karoki Ndirangu, respectively Chairman and Factory Engineer of Githunguri Dairy, a privately held cooperative.

The visit happened on the occasion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the new filling machine to be installed at Githunguri Dairy next August: Galdi’s RG50 filler with screw cap applicator and doser for liquid and viscous products.

The same machine was installed at NKCC about two months ago as part of the tender won by Galdi thanks to the active support of Robert Oyando. Indeed, the owner of Ramsis Enterprises Ltd, one of our esteemed local dealers, was also present during the visit.

For Githunguri Dairy Farmers this will be the first filling machine for gable top carton, replacing a filler for fermented and pasteurized dairy products. Our RG50 will allow the company to diversify by introducing drinking yogurt and Mala Milk to its product range. Upon Galdi’s recommendation, the company selected a cross-section mini format (57x57mm) for 500 ml cartons.

In line with the Kenyan government's guidelines, both producers are also considering adopting gable top for water as well. Compared to the situation in Algeria, where the transition from plastic bags to carton is a novelty, the Kenyan market began eliminating plastic containers for dairy products some years ago.

Once again, Galdi will help companies willing to make the transition to gable top also for water in the most beneficial and conscious way.
